I have been on a mission lately to rid our house of as many chemical products
as possible and aim for healthier options. I find that, no matter what I bring
home, from food to make-up to cleaning supplies, half the time I dont have a
clue what the ingredients really are much less pronounce them. So, I’ve bought
some books, done ALOT of research and am slowly making changes with the things I
use most often: hence, lip balm. The recipe is sooo simple and can be found in
this book Here.
It consists of only three ingredients, its not expensive to make, and the
ingredients can readily be found in health food stores or crafts stores. I
purchased some new tins to put it in and decorate but you can always upcycle
with whatever small tins you have around the house. Just make sure that they
are sanitized and dry before adding any ingredients. You do NOT want another
science experiment on your lips!
3 tsp. coconut oil
3 tsp. almond oil
1 1/2 tsp. grated beeswax
Put all of the ingredients in a glass bowl and microwave until all the
beeswax is melted ( mine took about 2 minutes) . Stir until well mixed and
pour into container. Let it cool completely before use. Will make approx 1-1.5
ounces. Have fun!
