Essential Oils 101: Lavender

I am on a continual educational journey with essential oils.  The more I
research, the more uses I find for these amazing products from nature.  I want
to start this new series with one of the most versatile oils I know of:
Lavender.  If you purchase just one oil for your home, this should be at the top
of the list.  Lavender is a natural antibiotic, antiseptic, antidepressant,
sedative, and de-toxifier. It is perfect for use in many cleaning recipes,
perfumes, room sprays, bath salts.  This list goes on an on.  And to top all of
that off, lavender smells good, which, sadly, isn’t always the case with other
essential oils that are just as valuable.  One of the most basic recipes you can
find is for carpet deodorizer. Simply add 15-20 drops to 1-2cups of baking soda
and sprinkle on your carpets. Wait an hour and vacuum it up.  Voila!  Clean
carpets and a yummy smelling house without all of the chemicals.

If you are gaining interest in learning more about essential oils, I would
recommend this book :

The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy: Over 600 Natural, Non-Toxic and Fragrant Recipes to Create Health - Beauty - a Safe Home Environment  This
is probably one of the more thorough books you will find out there regarding
learning the properties of these oils.
